After much research, i came to the conclusion that if you could only have one handgun,
it should be some kind of .357 caliber revolver. That way, you can use both .38 Special
and full .357 cartridges (they both have the same bullet diameter). And a stainless model
will stay nicer longer. So i traveled to a gunshow and hung out with all the other murders
and thieves. Actually, a gun show is perhaps the most polite place you can visit. I found
a few used Rugers for sale. I selected one, handed the gentleman cash, and was on my way.
I typically buy four different cartridges: .38 Special unjacketed round nose or semi-wad
cutters for plinking, .38 +P jacketed hollow-points to keep in the gun when it is in home
defense mode (Federal Premium 38 Special (+P) 129 Grain Hydra-Shok Jacketed Hollow
Point), .357 unjacketed round nose or semi-wad cutters for plinking, and some .357
jacketed hollow-points.
